Battling Burnout

If you're feeling the stress of modern life, you're not alone. Business insider Anne Field, who writes for web site Openforum.com, says the recession and the weak recovery are the most common contributors to chronic burnout. Left unchecked, it can lead to physical illness and clinical depression. You can learn the warning signs of "business owner's blues," and you can learn to stop fighting it, says a Cincinnati job coach. Everyone's anti-burnout campaign should include evaluating your business processes, assessing staff capabilities and delegating. Change that dreaded "To Do" list into a "Not To Do" list and hand off tasks to qualified staff. Frequent, regular exercise gets you out of your head and releases those much-welcome endorphins.

We're all familiar with the job search process these days. A fundamental step is to frequent the appropriate websites and enter keywords-including your city and job description-and other key phrases to see what jobs pop up. On the hiring side, posting a job description is like getting hit by a tidal wave: You'll be flooded with applicants. Many won't have the right qualifications. Some reapply daily. No matter how many times you specify "No phone calls, please," you'll get phone calls.

World Wide Stereo went on a mission to promote audio this week with an event called “Music Matters.” The long time A/V retail store started by Bob Cole, which turned 30 this year, operates two stores in the southeast Pennsylvania region. It created an invitation-only event for customers that focused on promoting the audio side of the business.
